Ribble Valley
The traditional built scheme of 19 two-bedroom affordable rent and shared ownership apartments it is strategically situated on Elker Lane between the picturesque villages of Whalley and Langho in the stunning Ribble Valley.
Adopting the HAPPI (Housing our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation) principles, the development delivers a harmonious blend of private living space and shared amenities.
Including the HAPPI principles ensures that the living spaces are designed with the well-being of residents in mind. Key elements such as ample natural light, spacious layouts, connectivity to outdoor spaces, and opportunities for social interaction emphasise comfort and enhance the overall living experience.
The apartments meet high standards of design, incorporating the Design & Quality Standards, Building for Life criteria, and Secured by Design principles, ensuring safety and longevity. The project also aligns with Code 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH), reflecting a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Designed with adaptability in mind, the apartments comply with the Lifetime Homes standard, providing an inclusive environment that caters to residents of all ages and abilities. This forward-thinking approach encourages long-term occupancy and supports residents in aging in place.
The scheme offers the opportunity for peaceful living whilst being close to nearby local amenities including supermarkets, surgeries, restaurants, bars and leisure activities.
With specific regard to rural consideration of the HAPPI design principles, the materials used were particularly sensitive to the site’s location and the building has enhanced the local environment.
The materials used on the new development are in-keeping with the local vernacular which includes nearby stone-built farm buildings.
