about the project
Year: 2019
Client: Plus Dane Housing
Contractor: Countryside Partnerships
Location: Halewood, Liverpool
Program: RIBA Stage 1-7
A modern residential scheme in Halewood, featuring self-contained one and two-bedroom apartments designed specifically for older adults who seek independence while maintaining access to necessary care and support services.
The development includes a combination of rental and shared ownership options, providing diverse living arrangements to accommodate different preferences and financial situations.
The design focused on creating comfortable and private self-contained apartments that enable older individuals to enjoy a high quality of life while living independently. Each unit is thoughtfully designed to maximise space, functionality, and comfort, ensuring residents have a welcoming home environment.
The building features various communal spaces accessible during the daytime, designed to promote social interaction, support networks, and community engagement.
Playing a wider role as a ‘community resource’ – the scheme opened the many benefits and facilities afforded to the residents to the wider neighbourhood area, thus facilitating greater possibilities for early intervention, prevention and reablement activities.
Recognising that many older adults wish to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, this project emphasises the importance of providing flexible care and support services that can be accessed when needed.
On-site resources are available to assist residents in maintaining their independence, ensuring that they receive the necessary support to live fulfilling lives
