Wrekin Housing
This traditional new build Extra Care Scheme known as ‘The Coppice’ was an innovative residential development designed for Wrekin Housing, to provide a high-quality living environment for the over 55’s seeking independence while benefiting from communal support and facilities.
Located in the beautiful rural setting of Bicton, the scheme comprises 85 one- and two-bedroom apartments, thoughtfully designed apartments available for shared ownership and affordable rent.
Specifically created to cater to the desires of older residents seeking independence within a vibrant, supportive community.
The design of the development prioritised not only comfortable living spaces but also encourages social interaction and well-being. Residents enjoy access to a range of communal facilities, including:
- A welcoming entrance, accentuated by clerestory windows and a striking bespoke rooflight that floods the main hub with natural light, creating an uplifting atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
- An inviting dining area where residents can enjoy nutritious meals, while encouraging connections over shared dining experiences.
- A dedicated salon offering hairdressing and beauty services, enabling residents to feel pampered.
- Comfortable lounges equipped with sitting areas and activities, providing the perfect environment for relaxation and social gatherings.
- Convenient onsite laundry services to ease the daily tasks of residents whilst promoting independent living.
- A specially designed assisted bathroom featuring safety enhancements that prioritize accessibility and comfort, ensuring that all residents feel secure in their daily routines
Beautifully designed outdoor spaces that provide a serene setting for relaxation, gardening, and outdoor activities, enhancing the overall quality of life.
The development aims to combine quality residential accommodation with ample support and communal areas, catering to the needs of the elderly population who are looking to downsize. By encouraging a thriving community of like-minded individuals, this scheme promoted social engagement, well-being, and independence.
Residents could participate in community activities, enjoy meals together, and develop friendships, creating a strong sense of belonging and security.
