The proposed development of a 66-unit independent living scheme in Runcorn is a pioneering initiative designed to provide much needed high-quality, accessible housing for older adults.
Situated on a vacant brownfield site, and delivered by Mansell Building Solutions, the scheme incorporates Metsec Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) modern methods of construction to provide a sustainable, efficient, and flexible living environment, catering to the growing demand for independent living options.
Located on prominent corner site edging the Bridgewater canal in Runcorn, the site presented a unique opportunity to create a vibrant and supportive community tailored to the needs and desires of its residents.
Offering residents beautiful waterfront views and easy access to local amenities, parks, and public transport, this picturesque setting promotes an active lifestyle and provides a peaceful retreat within the vibrant community of Runcorn.
Implementing Building for a Healthier Life design principles ensures that the living spaces are accessible to individuals of all abilities, while amenities such as nearby shops, healthcare facilities, and public transportation options enhance convenience and quality of life.
Using LGSF technology, this development features a contemporary design that prioritises safety, durability, and energy efficiency.
With a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, the units are designed with open-plan living spaces and modern amenities.
The design incorporates sustainable features, including energy-efficient all-electric heating and hot water systems, passive solar design elements, and high-quality insulation to minimize energy consumption and achieve an EPC-B rating for efficiency.
